Happy Thanksgiving

Wine Article

Thanksgiving,

A Time to Gather

Together With Wine

As autumn colors disappear, the Thanksgiving holiday is quickly upon us. It is a cherished time of year as we gather at the dinner table to express our gratitude with our family and celebrate an all-American feast. Instinctively, wine is chosen as the essential catalyst for these bountiful seasonings. While some might insist that you adhere to steadfast rules with regard to what is poured alongside an oven roasted fowl, it is more a matter of balancing flavors, occasionally with some minor adjustments, while walking the line and pleasing the relatives.

Merlot Resurges

Who doesn’t love Merlot? I would suggest that if you just cannot tolerate red wines, you might find yourself in that camp. However, if you enjoy red wines that originated from the European Continent, North or South America, South Africa, Asia or Australia, you are likely to be a Merlot lover. How can I say that? Well, I hope to answer that question in this article.

Carry Out

Thanksgiving 2020 will be unlike any in American history. We’ll have only a select few around the table, and no opportunity to go out to eat. You may be cooking-weary from making hundreds of meals at home for the last nine months. Are you dreading all the hours in the kitchen to make your Thanksgiving feast? There is a solution that could allow you to relax with your feet up instead. Restaurants around the country are scrambling to offer carry out options to treat their guests... I was captured when pursuing the unique Thanksgiving carry out menu from the iconic seafood restaurant Shaw’s Crab House (Chicago and Schaumburg.)

WINEMAKER PROFILE

Donald Patz,
Chairman of Pinot Noir

Donald Patz is a winemaker who has already achieved fame and recognition over a three-decade career in the wine industry. He spent nearly thirty years with partner James Hall at Patz & Hall Winery in Sonoma, hand crafting single vineyard Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from respected growers. After an illustrious career at Patz & Hall, Donald departed from the winery in 2017 after it was sold to Chateau St. Michelle Wine Estates. Instead of settling back into retirement, which he rightfully deserved, Donald decided to reset his compass.
